Last Wednesday, we left around 11PM towards Georgia! It took about 14 hours traveling, and we stopped at a Cracker Barrel, so in all the trip was about 15 hours.
We stayed in the beautiful Dillard House! My grandparents were in Eddie's Cottage, which was very cute! The House was like a Southern plantation or a ranch. They had a petting zoo with a Longhorn bull, a pig, a sheep, a llama, and a bunch of goats. They even had some baby goats which were adorable! Also on the grounds were stables, and we got to go horseback riding! That was a great experience, and we even got to ride in the river for a little while. It's hard to take pictures on horseback, so we don't really have many from the actual ride.
We got to visit with our family from all around the country. We surprised my Uncle Jesse at bingo (he calls bingo at the local VFW Hall) and played for the night. I even won a game! It was a lot of fun and we had many laughs. On Friday, we all got together at the Dillard House's restaurant which serves you family style. That was a great time! Friday night we went to Uncle Jesse's daughters' mountain house for some s'mores. Their house is beautiful! It is completely wooden and it was built recently. They have a big porch where you can just sit on a rocking chair and enjoy the scenery. The only trouble was getting there! Have you ever played Mario Kart Wii on the ride in the gold mine? Those hills that go straight up and straight down with a drop on both sides? That's what it was like in real life! REALLY scary!
On Saturday morning, we stopped at one place which is called "Goats on the Roof". They have REAL goats on the roof! There is one souvenir shop, and one shop where you can get ice cream. In the back of the ice cream shop, there are troughs with water where you can pan for gemstones. You can buy a bucket, and they turn on the water so you can pan through the dirt! We got some beautiful gems!
Also, there is a little bike where you can fill a can with goat food and pedal it up to the goats. Katelynn pedaled the goats up some food. The goats knew as soon as someone sat on the bike what was coming, and they bucked the tracks until the can got up there!
